LAMB OF GOD
LAMB OF GOD
Originally known by the less-than-subtle moniker Burn the Priest, Richmond, VA-based Lamb of God decided to change their name shortly after the release of a self-titled debut in 1998. Featuring vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Will Adler, bassist John Campbell, and drummer Chris Adler, the newly rechristened Lamb of God was launched in the year 2000 with their acclaimed New American Gospel album. The group then embarked on a lengthy touring spree, spending much of the next two years preaching their "pure American death metal" at major heavy metal festivals and small clubs alike. Work on a follow-up effort with producer and Strapping Young Lad mastermind Devin Townsend took place in between these many road jaunts, so that Lamb of God's sophomore LP, As the Palaces Burn, was released in summer 2003. Ashes of the Wake quickly followed it in 2004. Produced by Machine, it featured the most fully realized material of the band's career. Ashes was both a chart and critical hit and set up a year's worth of successful touring for Lamb of God. Epic also reissued Burn the Priest, their 1998 debut from their original band. The Killadelphia DVD appeared in 2005, documenting a particularly fierce stretch of shows in Philly, and the same program's audio edition dropped toward the end of the same year. Sacrament was released in 2006, followed by Wrath in 2009. While recording a new studio album in 2010, a massive three-disc retrospective entitled Hourglass: The Anthology was issued by Epic, covering their independent releases as well as their major-label years and included a third disc of rarities. The set was released in two configurations: it was available for purchase in either three single-disc volumes or as a full box set.
IN FLAMES
IN FLAMES
In Flames was formed by Jesper Strömblad back in 1990. The band as it was at the time consisted of Jesper, Johan Larsson and Glenn Ljungström. A demo was recorded and soon after the band got a record deal and released "Lunar Strain" and it did not take long before the album was a classic in the fast growing Scandinavian death metal scene.

With a new line up consisting of Jesper, Johan & Glenn along with two new additions: Anders Fridén on vocals and Björn Gelotte on drums, In Flames signed a license deal with Nuclear Blast Records and soon started recording the follow up: "The Jester Race".

"The Jester Race" quickly became a big hit all across Europe and Japan. After the recording of "Whoracle" in 1997 Johan and Glenn decided to leave the band and Peter Iwers (bass) joined. Niklas Engelin (Gardenian, Engel) was temporarily in the band filling in on guitars.

With a fresh line up the band set sails and headed out on tour. Short after a very successful European tour Niklas had to focus on his other projects, and Björn switched from drums to guitar and Daniel Svensson joined the band, and this is the In Flames as we know it today. With the completion of the line up "Colony" was recorded and released in 1999.

"Colony" took In Flames to a new level and the band sold out venues across Europe, USA and Japan and quickly became one of the biggest and most popular Melodic Death Metal acts around.

"Clayman" which was released in 2000 even topped its predecessor and the awards started pouring in and the band kept growing in popularity. In 2001 "The Tokyo Showdown", In Flames first live album was released, and gave the public and insight to the band's live competence.

Modern and more mature "Reroute To Remain" (2002) again confirmed the status of In Flames and marked another milestone in their career. Two years later and it was time to take In Flames to a new level. "Soundtrack To Your Escape" did just that and was the logical continuation after "Reroute To Remain". In Flames continued to tour the world and documented these escapades, which resulted in the release of the phenomenal DVD/CD package "Used And Abused – In Live We Trust" in 2005.

With an incredibly successful world tour behind them, In Flames recorded the masterpiece "Come Clarity" which was released in March 2006. "Come Clarity" got an amazing reception in the media and has today sold over 400.000 copies worldwide. The song "Take This Life" from the album is featured on the new "Guitar Hero III" game. A game which has been deemed the bestselling video game of all times and has today sold six million copies.

In Flames have sold over 2 million albums worldwide to date!!!

In January 2010, Jesper Srömblad quit the band.
Today the band consists of Anders,Björn,Peter and Daniel.

HELLYEAH
HELLYEAH
Hard rock supergroup HELLYEAH is back with a their third album, entitled Band of Brothers. The album, the band's first effort for their new label home, Eleven Seven Music, was recorded in Dallas at drummer Vinnie Paul's home studio, VP's Upstairs Studio, and was produced by the band and Jeremy Parker (Godsmack, Evanessence), who also served as engineer.

Having produced track after track of heavy-hitting, in-your-face, feel good rock and roll on their previous two albums (2010's STAMPEDE and 2007's self-titled debut), Band of Brothers sees HELLYEAH taking a slightly different musical direction. Drawing on their former bands' collective metal roots for inspiration, the influences and style of Mudvayne, Pantera, Damageplan and Nothingface are immediately recognizable in tracks such as "Band of Brothers," "War In Me" and "Rage Burn," while the party anthem "Drink, Drank, Drunk" retains the essence of earlier HELLYEAH.

Frontman Chad Gray comments, "I'm really excited about what we've done on this new album. I've always separated Mudvayne and HELLYEAH as much as I could, even though it was my voice. Melodies, lyrics and just the overall style of writing were different. With Band of Brothers, I just quit being afraid of who I am in relation to this band. I think we've all really gotten back to the original roots of what we've done individually and brought it together on this album. As an artist, as long as you're painting with your own brush, no one can compare or challenge you. I just painted with a bigger, heavier brush than I had with HELLYEAH in the past. I think this is what fans have always expected to hear from us, and now were giving it to them."

Vinnie Paul echoed the sentiment in a recent interview for Loudwire.com : "On our first two records, we were a new band. We really wanted to branch out and expand and experiment with all different styles. We all come from traditional metal bands and backgrounds, so it was a great breath of fresh air to play in a band that was rock 'n' roll, blues and Southern rock. We got that out of our system and got really focused on going back to our metal roots. It's heavy, focused, groove-oriented and I'm excited about it."

Jeremy Parker said, "It's impossible not to have a good time jamming this record. It has the anger and violence of Pantera and Mudvayne, but a party vibe that can
only be HELLYEAH!"
SYLOSIS
"Sylosis is a British melodic death metal band from Reading, Berkshire formed in 2000. They have used various genres in their music over the years with their first 2 EP's and debut album. They base themselves on 1980's thrash metal crossed with modern styles of music like metalcore. Sylosis was formed in late 2000 by original member Josh Middleton when they were back in school, as a bunch of kids who just wanted to play metal, mainly old school thrash and death metal.

They have released Two EP's on In at the Deep End records, entitled "Casting Shadows", And "The Supreme Oppressor". The band has been around since 2001, founding member and lead guitarist Josh and bassist Carl are the only surviving members from the original lineup.

In November, 2007 Sylosis got an email from Nuclear Blast saying they'd love to work with the band and signed to them a month later, in which their debut album was released on October 24 2008. Their debut album Conclusion of an Age has a lot of themes, but is generally not a concept album. Lyrically, the album deals with the end of the human race, in how nature reclaims the earth again. The artwork shows a world living with the human race. There are no religious beliefs behind the writings however. After recording their debut album, guitarist Gurneet Ahluwalia quit the band to rejoin his old band Viatrophy, also from Reading. In his place ex-guitarist Alex Bailey of Viatrophy joined Sylosis, ready for the early 2009 European tour with The Black Dahlia Murder, Cephalic Carnage and Psycroptic." - last.fm
